How to Become a Church Planter

WHY DO WE NEED MORE CHURCHES?

The need to reach America's next generation is urgent, and the local church, functioning as Christ’s Body in the world, is the most effective means! But the fact is:

  1. Church attendance is rapidly dropping across the U.S.
  2. Generations of young American's believe the church is antiquated and no longer essential for thier life.
  3. If a true revival ever took plce in the U.S. we would not have enough churches to house everyone searching for the truth.
  4. We need to plant thousands of new churches in America to directly address generational cultural change
  5. Churches aimed at the next generation require a contextualized approach for conveying the gospel message in order to form a church "out of the culture"
  6. Future church pastors with the gift of leadership are desperately needed to mobilize the church as a fully-functioning Body in our postmodern environment.

ARE YOU A CHURCH PLANTER?

Every young man who considers church planting asks the question, Am I a Church Planter?  Not everyone who wants to be or claims to be a church planter is a church planter. Neither is every church planter able to lead a new church at the same level. Church planters are a very specially wired group of individuals. They are also a specifically called group. If God has not called you to be a church planter, if you like to lead for the sake of being a leader, you will not find a great deal of success in your attempts. You may be good at business or a wonderful manager. You may even be a leader in your industry. But if God has not called you and empowered you to plant a church, don’t even think about it. Like Evil Kenival missing his ramp, you will hit the lid. To help you discern your calling to church planting National Missions uses several tools to help determine the details of God's call with clarity.

STEP ONE: Calling. The first place to start is by asking yourself a very simple question: Has God called me to plant a new church?" Planting a new church is a calling, there is no way around it. If God is not specifically calling you to plant a church don't attempt it.

STEP TWO: Self-Assessment. The best place to start is at Church Planter Profiles. At this site you can fill out a free online assessment to help you determine whether or not to continue down the road towards church planting.

STEP THREE: Self Assessment - (Part Two). If the self-assessment proves to be fruitful and God seems to be confirming the call to plant a church, go back to the site take the complete online assessment. The cost for this in-depth assessment is $79.

STEP FOUR: Formal Assessment. Once you have completed the first three steps and feel certain of God's calling, National Missions will enroll you in a formal, four-day Assessment Center. This Assessment Center is designed to confirm your callking through a series of tests and projects.
